Geneva's Iconic Jet d'Eau Turns Blue for EUBS 2026

On Monday, September 14, 2026, in the evening, Geneva’s famous Jet d’Eau will glow blue to mark the opening of the 50th Scientific Congress of the European Underwater and Baromedical Society (EUBS).
Born in 1886 as a safety valve for a hydraulic power plant before becoming, from 1891 onwards, one of the world’s most recognisable landmarks, the Jet d’Eau today sends water from Lake Geneva 140 metres into the air at a speed of 200 km/h. For over a century, it has embodied the power and beauty of water — a symbol that resonates deeply with our field.
Diving and hyperbaric medicine is built entirely around water: the physiology of diving, the safety of underwater exploration, oxygen therapy under pressure. It is this same water, in all its forms, that unites the 500 physicians, researchers and professional divers from more than 40 countries gathering in Geneva to celebrate half a century of scientific progress.
By choosing blue — the colour of the EUBS 2026 visual identity — to light up the Jet d’Eau, we celebrate the connection between the symbol of our host city and the spirit of our congress: a shared passion for water, depth, and exploration.

Join the Deep Breath & Run Club, an informal morning run designed for congress participants who want to wake up the body and clear the mind before the sessions begin.
We’ll run together through the beautiful lakeside paths of Geneva, with views of Lake Geneva, the Jet d’Eau, and the Alps slowly appearing on the horizon.
No competition. No pressure. Just fresh air, good energy, and great company.
